Al-Jazeera Comes to America

I've got a new column up at Family Security Matters:

Al-Jazeera Comes to America

I hate to say it, but we're losing the propaganda battle...

Yes, we certainly are losing the propaganda battle if people like you actually take Al-Jazeera seriously and believe they are a threat to the American way of life. If we can survive the Washington Times, we can survive Al-Jazeera.

Why do you hate America and think us so weak?

We lost the propaganda battle long ago. Mostly due, I feel, to a lopsided number of Liberals in journalism. Professors and such are overly represented by the left and it seems any reports of good about the right are promptly squelched.

cfk, if you think it is us that hates America, who is trying to destroy what America has always been, even with it's shortcomings that are dealt with, and remake it into a Socialistic shadow of the former and failed Soviet Union?

From your ignorant commentary about Al-Jazeera, it is clear that you receive all of your information about the NEWS STATION (rather than a terrorist-supporter, as you call it) from organizations intent on misrepresenting the station. I am an American who speaks Arabic, though I am not Arab and do not hate America. Al-Jazeera is unique in that it questions the status-quo, and is thus more like European media than American media. Until you spend time actually researching your topic, I suggest that you do not call for censorship of legitimate news organizations, especially since you criticize liberal students for censuring right-leaning speakers on campus. And by the way, regarding Al-Jazeera's airing of terrorist videos, the release of a terrorist video is legitimate news that people around the world want to know about. Thus, the station's decision to air it does not signal a support for the terrorists' message.

When compared with the size and budget of CNN and Fox News, many refer to Aljazeera as the 'little matchbox' Should one then create a mound of it really?

If there are specific views or statements, it is fine to keep a watchful eye and take action. But gagging a channel which consists of acclaimed professionals like Dave Marash, David Frost and Steven Cole is circulating blames not backed by any sound evidence.

The proof comes only AFTER seeing what AJE is or isn't about.
