Arab-Israeli Conflict Plays Out in the West

Israel's long overdue military response to the daily barrage of Gaza rockets aimed at its citizens has led to the usual round of protest/counter-protest confrontations in the West. Whether it's here in the San Francisco Bay Area or across the United States and Europe, Arab protesters and those on the left who have bought into their false victimhood narrative are enraged. They have directed their hatred and vitriol towards the few pro-Israel counter-protesters who have shown up to counter their monolithic message, and in some cases rioting and violence has ensued.

For the most part, the mainstream media continues to tell only one side of the story and unsurprisingly, it's not the pro-Israel one. (Click here to watch a CBS5 clip on the protest in San Francisco). For those who wish to know the real story, Atlas Shrugs has photos and reports from citizen journalists, the last bastion of truth.

The insanity of blaming a nation for defending its citizens after years of turning the other cheek in the face of a ruthless campaign of violence and in the larger picture, a fanatical and genocidal enemy, is self-evident. And yet it goes on.

Thus it has always been and unfortunately, will likely be. Israel and her defenders must remain firm against a world (with the notable exception of the U.S., Australia and a few others) gone mad.

Update: Israel Matzav reports that "a Palestinian opened fire on a group of Israelis in a supermarket just outside of Copenhagen." There's more at Israel National News.

Update II: Check out Phyllis Chesler's "Gaza Comes to America. Hate Demonstrations Against Israel on the East and West Coasts" at Pajamas Media.

Update III: Past and future congressional candidate and retired Army Ltc. Allen West (who I interviewed in 2007) can be seen among the pro-Israel crowd in Atlas Shrugs' post on "Floridastan," and also here.

Update IV: Richard Landes reports on the latest Pallywood productions over at Augean Stables. He also notes that Hamas is victimizing its own people by not availing itself of Egyptian ambulances, probably for propaganda purposes, just like the fake blackouts and manufactured humanitarian crises.

On a similar note, Palestinian Media Watch has been circulating a video of a Palestinian girl who lost family members in Israeli air strikes blaming the true cause of the violence: Hamas.

And let's not forget the ongoing murder of alleged Gaza "collaborators."

I received a startling reply from a co-worker in defense of the Palestinean rocket attacks, something to this effect: "It's not like they're meaning to hurt anyone - they're just launching the rockets in protest of the injustice against their people. Just like the blacks in the 60s." This was from the same person who claimed that no black person should ever vote for a republican. I really think we need to develop a new measure of intelligence to account for incredibly senseless outlooks like these.

SF media are a disgrace. They are stenographers for the Palestinian propaganda machine. The fauxny photos are everywhere as Pallywood springs into action. And western media are only too happy to provide a forum for them and their lies.

The Left hate Israel (Jews) with a passion and care nothing for the Palestinians really. They're just a vehicle for their hatred of Jews.

Underneath all this were some even more disturbing currents: a deep, atavistic hatred of the West and all its works; a profound scorn for Western "civilization" and "democracy"—the quotation marks seem to be obligatory. Also, a rooted conviction that China had never done anything wrong, and never could. Here are the words (I have polished the grammar a little) from a correspondent who has a Master's in Sociology from Peking University, a very prestigious institution:
Every time I read recent Chinese history, I can't help crying. What did we do in the past to make this nation, this race suffer so much? Nothing we did! It was those "honorable", "democratic", and "noble" western "civilized" people and culture! ... I suffer as my nation suffers, I cry as my people cry.

I think it is really important to protest and to speak out about the the injustice that is going on in Israel and in Palestine, however, it must be done in a civil way. I think the main goal is attaining peace and the only way to do that is if everyoen works together to achieve it. The people in the West have to come together and help create it because with the constant bombing from both sides over there, they are not having the time to find the solution themselves.

We have to keep in mind that these people are innocent people that are dying on an every single day basis over there. They are or atleast were someones child, someones mother, someones father, somesones friend. We must stop and remember that these are not just numbers, but rather every number symbolizes a death.

We are all human and nobody has the right to take away a life no matter what they did except for God. Because only God can give the final punishment.

At the end of the day you have to remember that you shouldn't be pro-Israeli nor pro-Arab, but instead we must all be pro-human life!

Is it far that a child must die before they even know why they are dying? Almost every single day, 1 child dies because he was born with a nationality and identity that they did not choose for themselves. They died for a cause that they were not aware of. And that is the saddest part about this whole war!
