"Tropic Thunder": Satirical, Politically-Incorrect Fun

Just a quick recommendation for the flick, "Tropic Thunder," which is sure to please anyone looking for a politically-incorrect, pop-culture eviscerating, Hollywood-lampooning laugh. It gets a bit juvenile here and there and it's not for the faint-hearted in terms of profanity and (obviously fake) gore, but the irreverence is priceless.

Ben Stiller and cast satirize Hollywood and American pop culture mercilessly, including thoughtful jabs at racial issues and Vietnam War stereotypes. Robert Downey Jr. is brilliant as an Australian method actor convinced he's a black man, while Brandon T. Jackson plays "Alpa Chino," a rapper-turned-actor who hawks the aptly-named (for today's brand of misogynist rap music) soft drink,"Booty Sweat" at every turn. Meanwhile, Nick Nolte plays the stereotypical psychotic Vietnam Vet, but with an ironic twist.

One helpful hint (without giving too much away): get there early enough for the previews.
