How the KGB Used Universities to Undermine America

Pajamas Media has posted a fascinating YouTube clip of an interview with former KGB agent and Soviet defector Yuri Bezmenov, who, according to the caption, "explains how the KGB worked from within American universities to demoralize our society in a generation" (hat tip: Candace de Russy at Phi Beta Cons).

Bezmenov details the KGB's indoctrination of American university students in the 1960s to a pro-communist, anti-capitalist mindset. Those same students, Bezmenov points out, went on to become today's politicians, professors, and university administration faculty. Judging by the level of anti-Americanism in higher education, not to mention the passing of the self-loathing torch to today's college students, it appears the KGB's efforts were quite successful.

Italian communist theoretician Antonio Gramsci, whose "total state" strategy outlined how to undermine Western democracies through the subversion of their institutions, would have been proud. That Gramsci wrote his thesis from a prison cell in one of Mussolini's gulags tells the true story. As Bezmenov reminds us in his interview, the useful idiots never stop believing.

Although a holdover from the 2004 campaign, here is a couple articles linking Kerry with the KGB infilitration of the anti-war movement.

Not "fascinating," I would say terrifying. This left me feeling stick to my stomach.

However, it is very helpful in explaining why there is so little progress in changing minds, despite overwhelming evidence, such as what is happening the Middle East, why capitalism is the superior economic system, etc.

As an old Leftist who saw the light, I can verify that such tactics were used and effectively.Universities and colleges were fertile groung for Communist agents.

Most university professors are active KGB agents who are guilty of treason against the United States. The same is true of editors of most major print and telivision media organizations. There are few exceptions to these rules.

The U.S. has lost the Cold War. Militarily, America could have hypothetically defeated the Soviet Union, but the good ole' U.S. of A. was no match for the Soviets on the espionage front. The KGB was and still is far superior to anything any of the incompetant U.S. intelligence agencies have to offer.
