Edwards "Supports the Troops" by Politicizing Memorial Day

Demonstrating the utter tastelessness and opportunism that has come to define the Democrat Party when it comes to the war in Iraq, 2008 presidential hopeful John Edwards has launched a new website devoted to politicizing Memorial Day.

Employing the oft-repeated, but completely disingenuous, mantra of the anti-war left, the site's called Support the troops. End the War. The problem is prematurely withdrawing from Iraq would not "end the war," which extends far beyond Iraq's borders, and such efforts aren't really about "support for the troops," but rather manipulating their cause for political ends.

Lew over at Right in a Left World has all the details. Let's just say, he and other veterans are none too pleased at seeing Memorial Day be turned into yet another opportunity to undermine our military, and our country, in a time of war.

Democratic Presidential Candidate John Edwards Denounces Politicization of Memorial Day.

Washington D.C. - John Edwards stated that he "strongly denounces" attempts to politicize Memorial Day. He had called on supporters to Protest the War in an attempt to "learn about what war protesters do" and that he himself would not...

This guy could politicize a 4th grade school play if he thought he could get away with it. After all, 100% of 4th graders' incomes fall well below the poverty line.

Perhaps unwittingly, the Washington Post's headline reporting on this despicable move by Edwards, says a lot: Edwards Campaigns To Make Memorial Day An Antiwar Statement

The article seems neutral, but the headline says a lot!

Edwards is a Carolinian (like me) and I do not trust him!! He smiles too much and says too little.

This should more accurately be called "exploit the troops - bring them home".

In the meantime, pleas from the Troops for Congressional Support remain ignored by those who "Support the Troops."

Support for the troops is not about the intent, it is about the effect.

John Edwards and a majority of his party do not support the troops, I can assure you of that. That may be their intent, but not their effect.
